Sustainability

Kaisanet and sustainability

Sustainability sits at the heart of our strategy and values, and sustainable ways of working have shaped who we are for over a century. We are committed to operating sustainably, reducing our environmental impact, promoting social justice, and developing more sustainable solutions.

In Finland, almost everyone depends on an internet connection, and more devices are connected than ever before. Keeping those networks running comes with a real environmental impact. We want to be an operator that also helps customers reduce emissions. Our sustainability work is ongoing, focused on steady improvement and meaningful progress over time.

From the CEO

Kaisanet’s commitment to sustainable ways of working goes back more than 130 years, rooted in supporting the vitality of our region. The long-term success of the region and our stakeholders has always been closely tied to our own. Sustainability is not a passing trend for Kaisanet. It is a core part of our strategy and values.

We are committed to sustainable development, and this commitment shows in the decisions we make and the way we work. Our goal is to create value for all our stakeholders while respecting the environment and the society in which we operate.

Supporting regional vitality

We want to strengthen the vitality of our entire operating area and support the conditions businesses need to succeed. Fibre optic networks provide a strong foundation for this. From a security-of-supply perspective, it is also important that critical infrastructure remains in local ownership.

We have identified three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals where our actions can make the greatest difference:

  • Decent work and economic growth
  • Industry, innovation, and infrastructure
  • Partnerships and collaboration

Sustainability starts with our own choices. By focusing on how we operate, we can make the biggest difference toward these goals.

Kaisanet’s carbon footprint

We have been calculating the carbon footprint of our own operations since 2022. The calculation follows the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) and includes direct Scope 1 emissions as well as indirect Scope 2 emissions from purchased energy.

We are fully committed to tracking how our emissions change over time and to setting realistic targets to reduce them.

People and Expertise

Our work depends on the people behind it. We invest in high-quality customer service and ongoing training, because our industry and its technologies are constantly evolving.

Our team brings a wide range of experience, with people at different stages of their careers. Many stay with Kaisanet for a long time, building continuity, shared knowledge, and trust over time.
